Thanks to your donations, we’re able to help charities like Bodmin Moorland Pony Rehabilitation with vital veterinary costs. The difference your support makes can be seen in heartwarming stories like Hodgy and Monty’s, where access to essential treatment has helped these special ponies continue to live happy, healthy lives.
“Hodgy and Monty—or the Hodgepodge, as we affectionately call them—arrived into our care just days apart in May 2015 after being found orphaned on Bodmin Moor, both boys were thought to be only a few weeks old when they arrived.
Below – when they first arrived at the Sanctuary
Having lost their mothers so young, they were hand-reared by our team until they were strong enough to feed independently and begin to flourish. From those early days, the pair formed an inseparable bond that remains just as strong today, images below.
Now living together in a peaceful grazing home, Hodgy and Monty continue to enjoy life side by side. Monty is the laid-back one of the pair, while Hodgy has always kept us on our toes! He also suffers from severe Sweet Itch, an allergic reaction to biting midges that requires ongoing management, treatment and annual vaccinations.
As a small charity, veterinary costs can quickly become overwhelming, particularly for ponies with long-term health conditions. We are incredibly grateful to Friends of the Animals, whose support has helped us provide essential veterinary care for Hodgy over the years. More recently, their funding also helped us access emergency treatment for Monty when he became seriously unwell.
Without organisations like Friends of the Animals, many charities like ours would struggle to meet the growing costs of veterinary care. Their support ensures that animals like Hodgy and Monty can continue to receive the treatment they need and enjoy the happy, healthy lives they deserve.
From all of us at Bodmin Moorland Pony Rehabilitation, thank you to Friends of the Animals and everyone who supports their work. Your kindness really does make a difference to animals in need.”
