Quinn the Fox Cub

Quinn, a fragile little fox cub, came into our care after a call from the RSPCA Isle of Wight. A concerned member of the public had spotted the cub, noting that she looked thin and unsteady. We asked if they could guide her into a shed to make things easier for our volunteer Annie. Her husband, quick on his feet, managed to gently close her in while still on the phone.

Annie brought Quinn straight to Pete the People’s Vet, where it became clear just how poorly she was. Dehydrated and underweight, she was immediately given fluids under the skin, a long-acting antibiotic, and a spot-on treatment.

Back at our office, we had a crate ready in our trusty loo-turned-rescue-suite—a space that’s played host to everything from swans and ducklings to cats and even a rabbit! Now, it was Quinn’s turn. She arrived lethargic and weak, and we were genuinely worried. But just an hour later, she surprised us all by tucking into her food.

Later that evening, she was fed again, and didn’t leave a crumb. By the next morning, she was well enough for Edward Albert to take her into aftercare. If all continues to go well, Quinn may soon be sharing her space with Rupert, another young fox recovering from a fracture.
