We were made aware that on Long Lane there were tiny ducklings on the road after their mother was tragically killed.
We went to the location thanks to a message via facebook and found the poor mum in the grass alongside the road. Thinking they would be near the mum we pushed through bushes but it looked at impossible task.
When there was a break in the traffic we heard cheeping and tried to locate the direction of the sound. One of us walked on the road and tucked in amonst the weeds they were spotted.
Although delighted, as you can see from the photo we were afraid they would go straight into the fast moving traffic.
We called Claire (Florence NightinGULL) from Skippers Sanctuary who came out to join us. On her arrival one of us stopped the traffic while we quickly but carefully caught all 10 of them.
They are now with the incredible Claire and will go on to Nikki the fairy duck mother.
Thanks to the drivers that kindly stopped while we saved the babies.
