A Fragile Beginning
Donut arrived at the sanctuary in February as a tiny three-day-old lamb with a severely deformed front leg. Unable to walk, she faced an uncertain future. Being a disabled lamb meant she had no value to the farmer, who left her at our gate.

Expert Care and Determination
From the start, Donut received expert veterinary care. She had multiple visits for scans and X-rays to determine whether her leg was broken, affected by tight tendons, or suffering from joint ill. Despite months of physio and treatment, her leg did not respond as hoped.
A Life-Changing Surgery
Following a referral to Bristol Veterinary College, Donut underwent surgery to amputate her leg. The procedure gave her the best chance at a happy, healthy life — and she hasn’t looked back since – here she is below with her new bestie Rudy.

Thriving on Three Legs
Today, Donut is a joyful and playful lamb who manages perfectly on three legs. She will spend her life at the sanctuary, thriving alongside her sheep friends and enjoying all the love, care, and freedom she deserves.
We are proud to support Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary with their vet bills and their hay and feed costs, helping more animals like Donut receive the care they need – we can’t do this without you!
