Arthur the Gull

Arthur, as we’ve decided to call him, was found on Friday by a kind customer in the car park of our Newport office.

It seems Arthur had been involved in a car accident some time ago but had managed, against the odds, to make his way to us. By the time he arrived, he was drenched from the rain, clearly distressed, and looking very much in need of a helping hand.

We called in our friends at Skippers Sanctuary, who quickly came to collect him. On closer inspection, it appeared poor Arthur had not only been hit by a car but had also endured an attack from other gulls — a rough few days by anyone’s standards.

Once safely at the sanctuary, Arthur immediately set about rehydrating but, worrying everyone slightly, refused to eat. However, we were delighted to hear this morning that he has finally started tucking into his food, even if he’s still a little wobbly on his feet.

We have everything crossed for Arthur’s full recovery and are quietly impressed that, when in need, he somehow knew exactly where to come for help.

A huge thank you to Claire at Skippers Sanctuary for taking him into her care — and to Arthur, for reminding us all how strong the will to survive can be.
