Swan Lake (Without the Grace!)

A man who feeds the local swans phoned in, concerned about one of his regulars. This particular swan had a front leg that wasn’t quite doing what it was supposed to.

At precisely 7:27am, Helen 2 got the call. “We couldn’t fit him in the mini” she said, so rushed back to the office to get a swan-appropriate vehicle along with the necessary crates and towels.

Once scooped up and chauffeured to The People’s Vet, our feathered friend made quite the impression—particularly on Pete, who now knows exactly what it feels like to have a swan poo directly in his face. Some life lessons come at you fast!

Once everyone had recovered from the incident (particularly Pete, who may never look at a swan the same way again), the swan was examined, dosed up on anti-inflammatories, and handed over to the capable care of Carrie-Ann from the RSPCA Isle of Wight branch.

He’ll be having a bit of a rest, a few good meals, and if all goes well, will be back out on the water by the end of the week—hopefully less limpy and considerably less explosive!
